Mind Map and Evaluation

Minds Maps

Making a mind map is a great way to organise your thoughts more productively. By using mind maps you can quickly identify and understand the structure of a subject. You can record additional facts contained in normal notes. Mind maps help store information in a format that your mind finds easy to recap and review. Mind maps are more compact because of its two dimensional format, it’s much more resourceful than conventional notes. They usually take up to one page. This brainstorm helps generate new ideas; you can easily interrupt the mind map structure if you find out more information. Mind Maps can be used to breakdown large sources of information into manageable chunks so you can plan more effectively without getting overwhelmed. They show the relative importance of individual points and how points relate to each other.

Evaluation

By presenting my research of mind maps I was able to give my partner and also myself insightful information that would easy to review in the future without my notes.  The information found on mindtools.com made me aware of all the key points and its benefits to the user. I broke down the original information on the site and summarised it which tested my skills to see if i was able to categorise all the points correctly. The visual structure of the Mind map makes it easy for the viewer and myself  which individual points are important by either the size or colour and how the points relate to each other  whether that be with indicating arrows or lines.
According o my partner I successfully presented good communication, clear vocal and projected presentation and a clear understanding of my information. I could improve my presentation by being more confident and more engaging. And to also ensure the listener understands by using more eye contact and comfortable gestures to make myself and the listener at ease.

Glossary Terms

GLOSSARY
Video Formats
Mov- MOV video file is common multimedia format often used for saving movies and other video file and also uses a proprietary compression algorithm developed by Apple. Compatible with both Macintosh and Windows platforms. The format specifies a multimedia container file that contains one or more tracks, each of which stores a particular type of data: audio, video, effects, or text

Avi ( Audio Video Interleave ) - is a multimedia container format introduced by Microsoft. AVI files can contain both audio and video data in a file container that allows synchronous audio-with-video playback. Like the dvd video format, AVI files support multiple streaming audio and video, although these features are seldom used.

Streaming
Streaming is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end user while being delivered by a streaming provider. The distinction is usually applied to media  that are distributed over telecommunications networks.
- Inherently streaming : radio , television
- Inherently Non streaming : books, video cassettes, cds.
Live streaming means taking the media and broadcasting it live over the internet. The media content can be viewed by end users live. This involves an encoder to digitize the content in order either an end user or delivery network to distribute and deliver the content

File Compression
File Compression- is used to send one file from one computer to another over a connection that has limited bandwidth. The file gets compressed which basically means making it smaller so that the sending of the file is faster. However when compressing a file and sending it to another computer that computer has to have a program that will decompress the file so it can be returned to normal and used

Aspect Ratios
The aspect ratio of an image is the ratio of its height expressed as 2 numbers separated by a colon
Eg. 16:9 – 16 inches wide and 9 inches high

Frame Rates
Is the frequency rate at which an imaging device produces unique consecutive images called frames. Usually Used in computer graphics, video cameras, film cameras and motion capture systems.

Legal and Ethical Sheet

Legal and Ethical

What does ‘copyright,’ mean?
Copyright is a legal concept, enacted by governments, giving the creator of an original work of authorship exclusive rights to control its distribution for a certain time period, after which the work enters the public domain.

Give three examples of different things which you might include in your video and could be subject to copyright:
-       Videos
-       Downloading Music
-       Pictures

List two websites that give copyright free music:
freeplaymusic.com/
List a website where you can find free or low fee photographs:

Explain what a location release form and why is it needed for filming?
Location agreements allow you to not only film the place but also grant you the right to rehearse and take stills for publicity. In your film, you may want to call the location a different name, and your agreement should give you the right to do so. The agreement should give you the right to incorporate scenes filmed at the location in your film and the right to exploit the film in any medium throughout the world. The design team will also require the right to make additions and alterations in and to the premises (interior and exterior) and the location manager will often have to ensure that the location will be put back in the condition that it was found.

The contributor's release form gives you the right to use a performer's contribution in your film. There are many variations for paid and unpaid contributions.

Review Report

Task 6

In the first week we did course induction which helped us introduce ourselves and get to know other members of our new class, along with orientation which made us more aware of the places we could go if we needed help or just for general use. Our tutor also introduced the video profile project which we were very eager to start. We set a target to complete the orientation around building which was easy to complete because we had the help of our peers and our tutor so it was a team effort. Our target was to set up our Blog on BlogSpot which I enjoyed because it felt like I was joining a social networking site like Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr. I like designing pages and presenting them in my own style, something as simple as using a Chris Brown background, this encouraged me to work hard and to complete my first blog of viral marketing and user generated videos. In week 2 I successfully planned my filming, learnt how to use different camera equipment, differentiated various existing video profiles and make a start on my script. The strategies I used were working around my action plan which made me more determined to complete all the action points along with the week’s target. If I’m not distracted I am able to work hard, fast and efficiently so most of the time I will be able to finish my work before the end of the lesson which gives me more time to do something else. This generally happened with most tasks in the lesson before the filming and editing commenced. In week 4 our target was to learn how to edit our videos, adding music, images etc and uploading our footage to our blogs. I enjoyed this a lot because I’m very interested in editing so I was able to learn how to do so on a new software Final Cut Pro which was generally new to me because in school we never really used Mac’s unless you did music tech. I also made myself more familiar to the Mac and my blog. My determination to learn new things helped me meet these targets and to my benefit to learn and explore something I enjoy.
I’ve learnt that I work better independently because this way I can get things done faster and able to teach myself new things. I’m able to work with my own ideas and put them across in my work and video. I’ve improved on meeting deadlines and this is because of the log book and determination to the course. Because I enjoy this course I will produce better results and feel more comfortable in the class. I enjoy learning activities such as analysing videos which we did with the Viral Marketing videos and User generated videos, I was able to focus on detail and make my eyes aware of things that you wouldn’t always see if you watched it on the TV.
I’ve learnt a few things about myself, that during the course of 6 weeks I have become more hardworking and comfortable in the course. What motivates me is my ability to produce good work which I have done so in the lessons as well as producing a video profile which I’m proud of. Was also motivates me is my interest in creative media which makes tasks and projects more enjoyable and work more efficiently because I can learn and pick up new skills that could help me in the future to fulfil my career.
In the future I will definitely use a timetable to structure my time keeping so that things can get done at home as well as college and to give myself timeslots in which I could complete work outside of college. I will dedicate my time more to college work and to sleep less so that I can work for a longer amount of time.

Task 5

Within the weeks where I produce my Video Profile, I will use a structured timetable to motivate me to make my college work my main priority. The log book that we have been given to us has and will be a good way to review my progress and to make sure that I am up to date with my work along with future targets to complete. So that I don’t become more distracted I will try my best to complete all of my work in Lessons because I work better in a Classroom , however if I have been set work to complete at home then I will make sure that the minute I get home I will make a start of the work to avoid distractions. This would work better for me because if I come and leave my work for later that gives me more time to find something else to do that can keep me distracted and wanting to postpone when I  do the work. The action plans in the Induction Log book give me set targets to complete along with dates to review it by. This will help plan my time more effectively because it tells me exactly what I have to do and actions points to help me achieve them.
If I need additional help I will turn to my Tutor, teachers or peers in my class. The resources that are available to me in the college are Mac computers for example editing on Final Cut Pro, Window computers to complete essays, evaluations, tasks that can be completed on documents, Technicians; where I can borrow camera equipment for my assignments and help and advice from Tutors.
I will use my strengths to make structuring my time easier. Being a hard worker will benefit me because I will be able to complete tasks to a good standard, being sociable will give me the confidence to ask for help when needed and to help others also, being reliable makes it easier to complete set targets because I rely on myself to finish work on the deadline. If I structure my time well I could easily work and improve on my weaknesses such as meeting deadlines which can be supported by my action plans and reviews to ensure I complete my work on time and know exactly what I’m  doing so that it makes it easier to meet deadlines.
